Jose Mourinho was at pains to stress that the Super Cup final against Bayern Munich wasn't a grudge match between the two managers.

Chelsea touched down in Prague ahead of Friday's clash with their boss adamant that the only thing he was interested in was beating the Germans, and not getting one over Pep Guardiola.

The pair had a fractious relationship when they were in charge at Real Madrid and Barcelona respectively, with the usually calm Guardiola visibly riled by his rival's media tactics.

That came to a head with an uncharacteristic 40-minute rant, complete with choice language, in the run-up to a Champions League semi-final. Madrid won the La Liga title a year later.

The first question posed at Stadion Eden on the eve of the match provoked Mourinho's anger.

The inquisitor asked former Real boss Mourinho why he found it difficult to win matches against Guardiola's Barca, pointing out the Portuguese has three wins from 15 games over his old adversary.

'Your statistics are wrong and very wrong,' Mourinho said.

Neymar collected his first trophy in Barcelona colours as the Catalan giants secure a fourth Spanish Super Cup in five years on away goals after a 0-0 second leg draw at the Nou Camp.

After last week's first leg at the Calderon ended 1-1, expectations of an entertaining spectacle were high when new signing Neymar, who came off the bench to head the equaliser in Madrid, was included in the starting lineup for the first time since joining from Santos.

World Player of the Year Lionel Messi was also back from injury but both struggled to cope with the visitors' muscular tactics in what turned out to be a poor quality game littered with fouls including the dismissal of Atletico fullback Filipe Luis in the 81st minute.

Anelka to quit football after the death of his agent

Afric TV24 - FootBall Update

Nicolas Anelka has told his manager Steve Clarke that he wants to quit football.

The bombshell came hours after the West Bromwich Albion striker was granted indefinite compassionate leave after his agent, Eric Manasse, died earlier this week.

Amid dramatic scenes at the club's training ground on Thursday, the former France international reportedly cleared out his locker and collected his boots before informing the club of his decision to call it a day.

Anelka has returned to his residence in London rather than back to France after being given time off.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of Saturday's trip to Everton, Clarke said: 'Obviously Nicolas lost a close friend and an agent over the weekend - he died suddenly. Nicolas went to Richard (Garlick) on Thursday and indicated that he wasn't in a good place.

'I went in and had a very brief chat with him, and he wasn't in a good place. So the club have decided just to give him a bit of time to go away and think about it and get himself in a better place for the future.

Barcelona have confirmed Lionel Messi injured his left leg during Wednesday's 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid. The Argentina star was replaced by Cesc Fabregas at half time in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup at the Vicente Calderon Stadium. The Catalan giants said: 'Messi was substituted due to precaution for pain in the back of his left thigh caused by a knock.'

David Villa punches the air after putting Atletico Madrid ahead against his former employers

And a video has emerged of Atletico defender Godin gesturing to his team-mate Miranda, indicating where he should hit the Argentina star.

Barcelona's sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta said Messi's injury appeared to be the result of bruising and the club confirmed on their website that he would be having more tests on Thursday.

Messi had a minor muscle injury in his left leg last week but was cleared in time for Sunday's La Liga opener and scored two goals in a 7-0 rout of Levante.

Atletico knew this and deliberately targeted the Argentine.

Barcelona's other superstar forward Neymar came off the bench to head his first goal for the Catalan giants from Dani Alves's cross and cancel out former Barca striker David Villa's first-half strike.

Sporting director Zubizarreta was shocked Neymar finished his first goal with his head and said: 'If they had told us what his first goal in an official game was going to be we would not have expected a header.

'Neymar is a player of great quality and we will give him time to adapt.'

The 21-year-old arrived in Spain this summer from Brazilian side Santos in a deal worth £48m.

Mourinho and Lambert involved in touchline bust-up after Ivanovic avoids red for foul on Benteke... then scores winner for Chelsea

CHELSEA 2 ASTON VILLA 1: NEIL ASTON REPORTS FROM STAMFORD BRIDGE: Jose Mourinho's return gained further momentum when Branislav Ivanovic turned in a Frank Lampard free-kick to Chelsea three points.

First the Chelsea boss was shaken by Christian Benteke’s equaliser and he then steamed into Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert.

Mourinho knows Chelsea got lucky. They won this re-arranged fixture when Branislav Ivanovic, who could easily have been sent off for elbowing Benteke, powered the winner beyond Brad Guzan.

Villa should have had two penalties, decisions scandalously overlooked by referee Kevin Friend who failed to spot the nudge on Andreas Weimann, or John Terry’s handball in the closing minutes.

‘We’ve been done by two big decisions,’ claimed Lambert. ‘Ivanovic should have been sent off.’

Mourinho responded, labelling Villa a physical, long-ball team who constantly boot balls up to Benteke. It was unfair and inaccurate.

Villas-Boas may’ve used the world-record fee from the Welshman’s sale to completely revolutionise His line-up team, but lost their prized asset with Gareth Bale on the brink of confirming his switch to Real Madrid.

While north London rivals Arsenal and their manager Arsene Wenger continue to be placed under the microscope for a lack of transfer activity, Andre Villas-Boas has been busy putting his side under a £117million revamp.

With the signing of £60million duo Willian and Erik Lamela still to be confirmed, Saturday’s Premier League clash at home to Swansea could see a virtually unrecognisable Spurs line-up compared with that of a year ago.

The imminent capture of Willian from Anzhi Makhachkala will surely see the Brazilian take over Bale’s mantle of White Hart Lane’s main attacking threat.
