This role is responsible for driving a strategic, cross-functional approach to fostering and managing public policy issues while helping the business to gain competitive advantage from public policy developments especially with key stakeholders in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Northern Nigeria. The role holder plays an active role in positively influencing perceptions, building corporate reputation, providing advice and guidance to senior executives on relationships with critical stakeholders.


The role is based in Abuja but involves travel across the country especially within Northern Nigeria

Key Accountabilities

    ·    Develop and sustain strong relationships with critical stakeholders in government, parastatals, and regulatory bodies, traditional and political leaders of thought for the purpose of tracking, pre–empting and influencing policies that are likely to impact on our business through constructive engagement, advocacy and lobbying.

    ·    Support the Sustainability and Responsibility department in managing relationships with host communities in the FCT and Northern Nigeria.
    ·    Develop and implement strategies focused on building support and alliance with industry leaders
    ·    Identify and implement specific campaign platforms that support the company’s reputation and profile with existing and new external audiences.
    ·    Research and deliver content for all government and external stakeholders presentations
    ·    Establish/maintain active and effective relationships with the diplomatic community including key embassies, United Nations, ECOWAS secretariat
    ·    Facilitate and support vital business approvals/licenses/permits/waivers

    

    Qualifications and Experience Required


    ·    Degree level or equivalent.
    ·    Marketing, Public Relations qualifications or membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. NIPR) is an added advantage
    ·    Understanding of Nigerian Regulations that deals with commercial and technical operations, business management and relationships with government
    ·    Relevant experience in government relations, public affairs and understands the workings of the various institutions of governance at the Federal and State levels especially in the FCT and Northern Nigeria
    ·    Strong Stakeholder management
    ·    Clear and Compelling communicator
    ·    Strong interpersonal skills
    ·    Good networker; ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultural and professional backgrounds
    ·    High level of professional integrity
    ·    Professional in style and manner
    ·    Good understanding of public policy and reputation management
