The former governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa has said that the All Progressive Congress (APC) is yet to declare its candidate for the presidential contest in 2015.
Bafarawa disclosed it in an interview with VOA Hausa Service in Washington, said the party must undergo proper screening before coming up with a credible candidate for presidential poll in 2015.
A statement by acting National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Tony Okeke, said the party regarded APC’s call on Jonathan to join the party as an indication that the party did not possess serious presidential contenders.
“By so doing, the APC has clearly admitted that it has looked within itself and discovered the bitter truth that it has no presidential material. The party has confirmed to Nigerians that it does not believe in the leadership abilities of its prominent leaders,” it said.
The statement went on to say that it was keen to respect the rules of the game in the process of nominating its presidential candidate.
Bafarawa neither disclose his mind nor that of Buhari whether to contest or not by 2015 but “the party will do justice to whoever comes up with his ambition.”
