The police have arrested four suspected notorious kidnappers in Enugu State who specialised in using text messages to threaten their victims.

It was gathered that the anti-kidnapping unit of the Enugu State police command carried out the arrest of the four suspected criminals following information from members of the public.
A release made available toAfriccon Blogspot in Enugu by the police public relations officer of the command, Ebere Amaraizu, said the suspects allegedly threatened to kidnap one of their victims living at theTrans Ekulu area, through “several calls if he does not give them reasonable sum of money” before they were arrested. Amaraizu also disclosed that operatives of Nsukka police division of the command also arrested one “Onyeneke Eze also known as Eke Nweze who is identified to be a notorious suspected armed robber on the wanted list of the police over his nefarious activities within Nsukka and its environs, ranging from murder and armed robbery amongst others”.
“Following intelligence gathering and monitoring, suspects who gave their name as Igbokwe Onyinyechi Sunday, Ejike Ibe, Belummuo Alexander Chikwado and Zeribe Chinonso Christopher were nabbed and they are now helping the police in their investigations”, he added.
Meanwhile, the state commissioner of police, Abubakar Adamu Mohammed, has applauded the efforts of his operatives and that of the members of the public.
