The Alaye of Efon, Oba Emmanuel Aladejare, made this known in an interview with journalists in Efon on Tuesday.
The monarch said members of his cabinet and the President-General of Efon Development League, Chief Patrick Ojo, facilitated the peace deal.
According to him, the ACN Chairman, Mr. Ogundeji Oguntuase, and his PDP counterpart, Mr. Femi Oluwatayo, signed the undertaking on behalf of the parties.
Aladejare, who said the agreement was signed at a meeting in his palace on Monday, added that the Efon Local Government Chairman, Dr. Adio Folayan, a former LG Chairman, Chief Idowu Akinyele, were among prominent indigenes of the town that attended the peace talk.
Supporters of the two parties last week engaged in a violent clash, which left many property destroyed and many persons injured.
Aladejare, a former lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, said the meeting was to reconcile the parties and to ensure that there was no recurrence of violence in the council.
The monarch said, “We are disturbed by the violence because we are all the same, irrespective of our political affiliations.”
“We believe that there should be political tolerance in this town.
“We called the leaders of the two parties, youths, their parents and the chiefs. We told them in plain language that such must never happen again and they signed an undertaking to that effect. Anyone who violates this would be dealt with according to the provision of the law.”
