2015: INEC Dismisses Eight Workers, Fires One


The Independent National Electoral Commission said it had  dismissed eight members of its staff and terminated the appointment of one employee.

Their exit was contained in a memo signed by the commission’s  Director of Human Resources Manager, Mr. Musa Adamu, and published in the Wednesday’s edition of “INEC Daily Bulletin.” No details as to the offences of the affected workers was contained in the announcement but sources in the commission said it was in preparation for the 2015 general elections.


Calls to the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Mr. Kayode Idowu, for comments were not answered.

Those dismissed include Mr. Martin Yakwo (Admin. Officer II) on GL 08 (INEC Benue State); Esther Francis Ita (Senior Executive Officer), GL 09 (INEC Akwa Ibom State); Imelda E. Akpan (Admin. Officer I) GL 09 (INEC Akwa Ibom State); Ogudo Esther N. (Assistant Executive Officer) GL 06 (INEC Akwa Ibom); and Mrs. Eberewariye A. Sharon (Admin. Officer)  GL 09 (INEC FCT).

Others are, Mrs. Makir Dzakpe Helena (Principal Admin Officer); GL 12 (INEC Nasarawa State); Akonjom Nsed Ayip (Assistant Chief Engineer) GL 13 (INEC Cross River State) and Miss Oyedokun Taye Risikat (Admin. Officer II) (INEC Osun State.

The appointment of Mr. Adebore Murtala Adesina (Higher Executive Officer) GL 08, (INEC Osun State)) was terminated by INEC.

Meanwhile, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Imo State, Prof. Selina Oko, has urged members of staff of the commission to be mindful of their social contract with the electorate by ensuring that efficient and prompt electoral services were delivered to Nigerians.
