Chief Judge of the Abuja Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, has called for better collaboration between the Bar and the Bench in order to strengthen the country’s administration of justice.

The Chief Judge spoke at a meeting with members of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law in Abuja.

Justice Auta said the Abuja FHC would participate at this year’s NBA Section on Business Law, which holds in Lagos from June 17 to 19.

He said, “The Bar and the Bench will always interact; that will be better for the justice system.

“It is very important for the Bar and the Bench to understand each other.

“It is good to collaborate in order to ensure better understanding of the law, sometimes mistakes are made because of inadequate understanding of the law.”

Among those who attended the meeting were the Chairman of the Organising Committee, NBA Section on Business Law, Mr. Gbolahan Elias, (SAN,) and the General Secretary, Mr. O. Akpata.

Justices Donatus Okorowo, Abdul Kafarati, Steven Chukwu and Gladys Olotu, of the FHC were also in attendance.

Speaking at the meeting, Akpata said the session would promote specialisation in legal practice in the country.
