The highly-rated 18-year-old completed his move to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, signing a five-year contract with the Blues.
Cuevas primarily as a left-back but can also operate as a left-winger.
Speaking back in February, the teenager had said: "Chelsea were following me for over a year and we finally reached an agreement."
He added: "I am already taking English classes so I can integrate quickly. It will be a big change.
"I could account for all the differences there were when I was there. But I am calm and very happy."
Cuevas becomes Chelsea's fourth signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Andre Schurrle, Marco van Ginkel and free agent Mark Schwarzer.
