AfricCon Blogspot – News

Report Says:
The headmistress of Madonna International Nursery and Primary School, Gwagwalada, Rev Sr. Veronica Omocho, has attributed decadence in value, norms and behaviour of children to high exposure to the internet and other social media networking sites.

AfricCon Blog Report - Omocho who stated this in Gwagwalada at the 21st graduation ceremony of the school, stressed the need for parents to watch what their children watch and the kind of friends they keep.

The headmistress who urged parents to ensure that television programmes watched by children are censored also condemned the habit of leaving children in the hands of nannies and called on parents to ensure that they spend quality time with their children to complement teachers’ efforts in their upbringing.

“Parents must behave, talk and dress the way they would want their children to do so as to protect them against external influence,” she stressed.

Also speaking, chairman of the school’s Parent Teachers Association (PTA), Mr Chike Nduka called for collaborative efforts between parents and teachers to enhance moral upbringing of children and also on parents to remain committed to the upbringing of their children by spending quality time with them, stressing that the task of children upbringing must not be left in the hands of teachers alone.
