Wayne Rooney is finally facing up to the fact that he will not be allowed to leave Manchester United to join Chelsea.

'But why did Wayne Rooney refuse to celebrate with United team-mates in Swansea victory? The fact that he has accepted to stay this summer'
Rooney was seen chatting to referee Phil Dowd after Danny Welbeck scored United's fourth

Though desperate to play for Jose Mourinho, Rooney has knuckled down to getting himself fit after missing United’s pre-season games through injury.

The striker made his first appearance under David Moyes in last night’s 4-1 win at Swansea but,  having set up two goals as a second-half substitute, seemed not to celebrate either with his team-mates.

He had watched glumly as Robin van Persie scored an acrobatic opener and Danny Welbeck tapped in a second, but came on as a 62nd-minute substitute.

Rooney went on to create the opening for a second goal for Van Persie before teeing up United’s fourth goal for Welbeck, but he appeared to trudge back to the halfway line as his team-mates  celebrated.
