Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state, while condoling victims of last week Damboa Boko Haram attack yesterday in Damboa town where properties worth millions of naira and over 40 lives were lost has described the attack as barbaric unreligious and unIslamic.

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state, while condoling victims of last week Damboa Boko Haram attack yesterday in Damboa town where properties worth millions of naira and over 40 lives were lost has described the attack as barbaric unreligious and unIslamic.
He also said that government was very much concerned of their plight as what happened to them has not only affected the people of the state but the country at large and assured that everything will be done within the power of the state government to ameliorate their plight.
The governor further appealed to the people to unite and cooperate with one another for the overall development of the area and the state as a whole while commending the people for not fleeing their homes because of the activities of the Boko Haram insurgents.
Commending the courage of the civilian JTF in the area for confronting the Boko Haram terrorists face to face during the attack, he said, “Government is working out modalities to create job opportunities for the youths to enable them earn a living after the restoration of peace, law and order in the state”.
Announcing that food items will soon be distributed to them through a committee that will comprise people of the area to handle the distribution of the items, among others.
Governor Shettima revealed also that government is poised to provide the area with basic social amenities but emphasized the need for the people to support government for more developmental programmes.
