Everton have agreed a fee with Wigan for James McCarthy but are still locked in talks as to how the money is paid.
Roberto Martinez has been a long time admirer of the 22-year-old and the clubs have eventually settled on a £12.5million deal, Sportsmail understands.

Deadline day problems could remain, however. The Toffees want to pay the sum in smaller instalments, while Wigan - without the bumper Premier League cash with which they're accustom - are holding out for more up front.
