meEkiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has named Prof. Modupe Adelabu, 53, as the new Deputy Governor. Governor made his choice known in a letter he sent to the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin, requesting the legislative body to consider Prof Adelabu for the position of deputy governor, to fill the vacuum created by the death of the former deputy governor, Mrs Funmi Olayinka on April 6, 2013.

This has brought to an end all the speculations about who would occupy the position following the death of Olayinka. Until her nomination to fill the vacant deputy governorship position, Adelabu was the chairperson of the State’s Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and a professor of Education from the Obafemi Awolowo University, (OAU), Ile –Ife, and former Head of the Department of Education Administration and Planning of the institution. She was appointed the chairperson of Ekiti SUBEB in July 2011. An Ado-Ekiti princess, Adelabu was born on May 23rd, 1950 to Prince and Mrs. Samuel Adepoju Adejugbe.
