  Africcon Report: Adelabu sworn-in as Ekiti new deputy gov

  New Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof.  Modupe Adelabu, was on Wednesday sworn-in to office.
  
  The State House of Assembly on Tuesday had confirmed her nomination.
  
  The 63-year-old Professor of Education was sworn in by the  Chief Judge, Justice Ayodeji Daramola,  at the Government House, Ado- Ekiti.
  
  The ceremony was attended by Governor Kayode Fayemi;  Speaker of the House of Assembly, Dr. Adewale Omirin; Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade;   Deji of Akure, Oba Adebiyi Adesida; Chairman, Ekiti State Traditional Council and Owa Ooye of Okemesi, Oba Gbadebo Adedeji; and the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Adeyemo Adejugbe.
  
  A former Lagos State Commissioner for Establishment, Mrs. Teju Philips, and the Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria in Ekiti State, Chief Jide Awe, among others, also attended the ceremony.
  
  Fayemi said the appointment of Adelabu  was received with “overwhelming approval from the people because “she is a round peg in a round hole”.
  
  He said  the new deputy governor was stepping into a big shoe left by her predecessor, Mrs. Funmilayo Olayinka, who died on April 6.
  
  Fayemi, who expressed confidence that Adelabu would perform well,  urged her to continue with the kind of zeal her predecessor displayed towards her duties.
  
  The governor told Adelabu to expect rumour to start flying around soon, saying she was enjoying a “period of honeymoon now”.
